NYT 1:52 ... LAT 1:43 ... CS 1:59 ... ND 1:37 ... JON 3:03 ... BEQ 2:49

Thanks to Alex's Across Lite-ification tool, I'm adding the Sunday LAT Sylvia Burzstyn puzzle ("LATB") and the daily Newsday to my routine...

I was wondering how you solved my Stumper in AcrossLite. Cool! I wonder if you'll break 1:00 on a Monday or Tuesday Newsday one of these days.

i love alex's thingy, too. i actually thought doing the stumper in AL might significantly help my solving time, since stan has so many ways already of getting me out of my "comfort zone." but either it didn't help, or the puzzle was just too stumpy anyway. :P

Dan (and others) --

I put up a new PC version of the puz-ification tool. On Sunday, I noticed it died when it couldn't find the LATB -- now it'll just skip it if it can't find it. This one also won't download the Parker puzzles (you can thank me later).

I also want to go on record as predicting that a sub-1:00 solve is impossible. There, the gauntlet has been thrown down.

it can be done. i've seen tyler post 1:10ish times on the applet. that said, i haven't often been able to break 1:00 even on puzzles i've constructed, so ... it won't be done by me.

Thanks Alex... ah, I suppose that's why it didn't continue on to the BG and PI.

I don't think Tyler has gotten under a minute, and I'm not optimistic that I can, but I'll certainly try. :)

Wish I could join the party on the 1-minute thingy, but I have hit the wall on personal typing speed; on the (very) rare occasion that I break 2 minutes in AcrossLite, the space-time continuum fluctuates slightly, and everything in the room shifts in the color spectrum to plaid for just a moment.
It's either due to that or Taco Bell.

It wouldn't surprise me to see you break a minute though - be sure to report what happens :).
