Exactly correct -- if you put an incorrect letter in when playing in the "regular" mode it shows up in red rather than black, so you can delete it. Probably no one who posts scores here would ever SEE such a red letter. Crux app lets you set a similar function. And Dan's Mom finds this to be a mighty time-saving feature.

How come when one gets the L.A. Times puzzle online now, it says "Play regular" or "Play master"?
The CrosSynergy puzzle says it too.

I think they mean that if you solve it in the applet you will be notified of your errors in regular, but not in the master mode.
