Some exciting puzzle packets are coming our way this week. Trip Payne has delivered the three bonus crosswords for backers of his upcoming extravanganza. In tribute to Trip - and in order to get a little more enjoyment for my money - I won't be speed-solving those.
I will be speed-solving the puzzles from last weekend's Crosswords LA, which I expect will be available, like last year, for a small donation on Alex's site. I'm planning to put up a special post to share times and discuss the LA puzzles. Once they're available, I'll let you know when the post will go up, and we can try to get the puzzles done by then. Probably not before this weekend.

Weird. I thought I was for sure sub-2 on yesterday's ND, and I had a 2:30 time. Today I thought I was slower than yesterday and I clocked in at 1:48. Maybe that latish trip to the gym really helped the brain!
i liked none of these puzzles at all. could be my least favorite day of crosswords ever. perhaps andrew's RG will make me feel better.
not bad, AR. that first-row clue is gold, so to speak.
Yes, Andrew, the RG was great fun and a little tougher than the last couple of weeks. I'll add my praise to Joon's for the Row 1 clue. The seed entry was good, too.
Joon, just curious, what led to the dnf on the Jones? I must admit, I DNF'd last Friday's WSJ out of sheer lack of interest. One too many ridiculous crossings combined with blah theme. Don't think I've done that before.
i couldn't untangle the middle-bottom section between the last two theme answers, possibly because i had FUEL FILLER instead of FILTER, and FISHBOWL instead of FISHBONE. i'd never heard of any of the bands, so i wasn't terribly interested anyway.
