2:30? oh man. i beat my old friday record by almost a minute, but that's too good.

Well done. Both in the "nice job" sense, and the "I'm very crisply cooked" sense.

I would have been (at best) in the low to mid 3s if I were in Across Lite and not fighting the NY Times app's quirkiness, but 2:30? Only if I pre-read the answers, had a head start, etc. you know the standard lines. Great stuff :).

Working on a fix for Newsday ...

I'm also sad that another puzzle has replaced mine as your fastest Friday, Joon! Although, considering how much faster a solver you are now than then, maybe my puzzle was still easier.

Thanks for the Newsday puz, Alex!

could be. also, i tied that time once and came very close twice in the two years since your friday puzzle, not to mention i spent a good chunk of last year doing paper-only. but today's was pretty easy, i have to say. all the 15s were pretty much instafills. it felt almost as easy as a CS sunday, and indeed i beat my CS sunday average (though i was almost a minute off my CS sunday record).

Also very crisply cooked... I thought I was moving pretty fast through this one, but 2:30 it was not. :-) Nice job, Dan!
