Today was the first time in a while that I hit the NYT applet "cold" - no warming up with old puzzles or the other dailies. What do I get? My fastest time ever. Maybe it's time to retire from the applet, I think I've shown off enough (and it's been a while since someone beat me)...

i tend to "win" amy's leaderboard on mondays and tuesdays, but somehow i don't get tired of it. i guess it might be different if it happened with any regularity later in the week.
a day late, but i thought paula's CS SC yesterday was actually easier than usual. took me only 3 minutes. i had a couple of good guesses and quickly caught on to the scrabbliness, so that may have helped, but ... it wasn't that tough a puzzle.
yeah, the thrill is pretty much gone...
3:30 on my Sunday Newsday and three sub-1:30's today, including an applet record. Dan, don't peak too early! The ACPT is over nine months away. :)
I was a little disappointed not to get under 1:30 on the LAT...
Thanks for the advice, and if I may return the favor, why don't you think about constructing for the ACPT? ;)
A couple days late, but that won't stop me from chiming in! It'd be perfectly fine with me if Tyler and Trip wanted to construct for ACPT, too. :-) Doug, where ya been on the NYT applet? I benchmark your times!

I'd love to construct an ACPT puzzle someday! That would be too awesome.
At 1:22 I'm generally erasing my first batch of typos somewhere at the 50% mark. AcrossLite is much friendlier, since you can wipe out an entire word with one keystroke, and there's none of that online unpredictability that an applet offers. The Times applet (as opposed to an offline program) overwrites an entered letter instead of skipping it about maybe about 10% of the time here, so I can never be sure which cell I am actually typing in without a constant vigil on the screen - not good for a touch-typist like me.
So it amazes me that anyone can come in under 2, let alone 1:22. good stuff!
PS - anyone of you who want to construct for the ACPT, I'm all for it! Doug, you'd make something diabolically intriguing, I'm sure. Bring it on!
