NE corner; I call foul on the 20-A/12-D crossing, and the 10-D clue is, well, Horrible. Probably spent 12 minutes on that corner staring into space. Really good time prior to that...

Hi Andrew, that crossing didn't bother me so much. Seemed like the "Uno, Due, Tre" was pretty gettable from basic Italian and AEDES is one of those old crosswordese entries that used to show up a lot in the pre-Shortz days. Dread can be an adjective, just not very commonly used. One of those typical "part of speech" deceptions that show up a lot on the weekend. My least favorite part of the puzzle was TIMES crossing IN OUR TIME in the SE.

Crazy coincidence on the 21A NYT and 1A LAT clues today.

Al -- I only just recently parsed UNO DUE TRE, and yes, the crossing isn't as bad as I originally thought. Looked like a mashup of random letters for a while. Still, toughest puzzle of the year so far :)!

I couldn't finish the SW corner of the NYT. I dug myself into a really deep hole by having BOCA RATON and OOLONG TEA crossing ECLECTIC (managed to not notice that eclectic was one letter too long). Gave up after around 15 minutes. Not my best foot forward.

late to the party due to the mystery hunt, but i dare say this is a record for an acrostic. definitely my best, anyway. probably could have been 15-30 seconds faster if i hadn't misspelled the faulkner county, but ... yikes. i had something like 3/4 of the clues on the first pass, and then the entire grid filled itself in because i knew the quote subject. crazy wheelhouse puzzle.
