Idea: If you format the columns as "# ?/60" you can store the times as numbers...

Thanks Gareth... I'm not sure I understand, would that entail entering the data as "4 33/60"? Or could we type 4:33 as usual?

I'm a spreadsheet novice, so any help is welcome! I currently have the cells formatted as "time" (hh:mm), which seems to work for everything except the negative numbers for MGWCC metas.

It would mean doing that unfortunately. It's only useful if you want to do calculations

i used to format them as times, but every now and then a puzzle would take me more than 24 minutes, and then it doesn't know how to interpret it as a time. obviously that's not happening to dan (it doesn't even happen to me any more), but since anybody can post here, it might not be ideal.

fwiw, i now just use # of seconds. but i'm quite good at converting quickly in my head.
