NYT (p) 2:00 ... LAT 1:24 ... CS 1:47 ... ND 1:14 ... JON 2:42 ... BEQ 3:42
Solved the NYT in a radio studio at WDET in Detroit. My "competitor" (Morning Edition host Pat Batcheller, a puzzle fan) was narrating his own solving progress, and the grid was printed on the top right, but I managed a good enough showing. WDET will air the piece about me sometime next week.

crap, i liked this hat. and it doesn't look very appetizing!
It's okay, Joon, I had to eat a hat today too.
LOL, Alex. BEQ gives himself a longer lead time than that. I'm guessing there's a good shot for Thursday... "six consonants in a row" theme?
if it's a themed puzzle, he could go with "kangaroo names."
I'm actually expecting the next themeless to feature the return of Louis Oosthuizen, with a semi-ambiguous clue (e.g. 3rd South African to win a PGA Major championship). That's exactly the kind of mindf**k i've come to expect from BEQ.
