acrostic 11:13. but you beat me by a minute on yesterday's.

i couldn't get today's ND in .puz. the butler brought it to you?

It did. Here's what seems to be happening: the NYT recently figured out how to block "parasitic" apps, so the Butler is hanging up on the NYT and not proceeding to ND (and WP).

The last few days, I've downloaded the NYT from the NYT site and renamed it to nytYYMMDD so that Butler will skip it. But going forward we should just not ask the Butler for the NYT, I suppose...

my copy of the butler never got the NYT anyway, so it's not that. i'll ask alex.

The NYT isn't working because the NYT login page is now a secure one. I'm 100% certain that decision has nothing to do with crossword downloading. It's just an unfortunate coincidence.

Joon, don't know what to tell you ...

finally got the newsday. would have been under 7 minutes, but i had a crossing i didn't know. (!) HUNT_HALL crossing _ETAS. couldn't figure out how it could be either B or Z unless it was an initial, and then B looked like a more likely initial... oh well.

Thanks, Alex. Glad to be wrong (yet again) on technical matters... :)

Joon, I had no idea at that crossing either, but I still count it as correct if I eventually guess right...

well i was on paper, so i did have to make a decision. spent about 40 seconds on it (pushing me from 6:something to 7+) and then got it wrong.
