NYT (p) 2:12 ... LAT (p) 2:10 ... CS (p) 2:40 ... ND (p) 1:46 ... JON (p) 2:37 ... BEQ (p) 4:14
I didn't believe my stopwatch on the Newsday, but I really never stopped writing. Next Monday we'll break 1:40!

1:46? unbelievable. i suspect i would not be able to fill in a paper puzzle that fast if i memorized the grid in advance.
i suspect you would have crushed my NYT time had you done it in the applet (or across lite), but since you didn't, i'll call this another "win."
And of course, I suspect you would be able to...
If you bring a puzzle of yours next time you see me, we can play the David Rosen/Peter Gordon game. You get to be Peter! And I wouldn't mind being David - dominating the ACPT so thoroughly I have to retire...
peter did win the 3rd time around by memorizing the grid in advance. if i went that far, i could beat you. but if "all" i did was memorize all the answers, i probably couldn't. i am still laughably slow at looking back and forth between grid and clues on paper.
and for what it's worth, the last few times i've had a puzzle published, you've beaten me, although i didn't "solve" that tough CHE because i had already gone through it once to make the .puz.
