Managed to guess the 12D/27A crossing, I may have heard 12D somewhere before. 77A is one of those older personalities I can remember watching as a kid (yes, I admit it, I watched "Hee-Haw"). These days, that entry is usually clued as his daughter Pam. Also in the I-know-some-old-stuff-better-than-current-stuff category, I'm more used to 62D being clued in reference to the St. Louis bridge.Al Sandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15010920476357795932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-59856362846914643362012-04-29T16:56:00.802-04:002012-04-29T16:56:00.802-04:00Hook's 12D is Maleskan crosswordese - I must h...Hook's 12D is Maleskan crosswordese - I must have done enough old puzzles that it didn't faze me a bit. Don't know why we haven't seen the incredibly useful 62D more often - for 12 years he's costarred on the (one-time) most popular TV show in the country. (I also don't know why nobody's used the first or last name of the female star of "Castle"!)Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11209543514266918480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-75330257835715675032012-04-29T15:22:08.313-04:002012-04-29T15:22:08.313-04:00oh, and hey, another one in the hook, 77a/62d. gee...oh, and hey, another one in the hook, 77a/62d. geez. i'm actually surprised there were only two.Joonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07825085755390339668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-44144609839627547802012-04-29T15:18:56.088-04:002012-04-29T15:18:56.088-04:00another error on 27a/12d in the hook.another error on 27a/12d in the hook.Joonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07825085755390339668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-22787839957771018972012-04-29T14:33:28.769-04:002012-04-29T14:33:28.769-04:00i had the same error as al, except that i figured ...i had the same error as al, except that i figured out 32a. so, no excuse, really, except for not knowing 34a at all. yikes.Joonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07825085755390339668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-41805270791815649812012-04-29T14:03:58.489-04:002012-04-29T14:03:58.489-04:00I found the 32A clue especially devious since the ...I found the 32A clue especially devious since the alternate reading (adjective, instead of verb) worked pretty well with an O instead of the I. As it stands, it's not quite a Natick crossing, but it's close.Davidnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-73123077703434034092012-04-29T01:16:17.375-04:002012-04-29T01:16:17.375-04:00@David: I wonder why Mike didn't go for the J ...@David: I wonder why Mike didn't go for the J in that square.
