Of course, go the other way with easy cluing, and the whole thing falls too quickly. So a nice balance here.Howard Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00766792795622192271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-59815866359256659912010-06-24T23:36:45.035-04:002010-06-24T23:36:45.035-04:00maybe my spidey-sense for metas helped me here. i ...maybe my spidey-sense for metas helped me here. i "knew" it wasn't going to be a rebus, because we had one last thursday. and i knew from the warning about clue numbering that there was going to be grid funkiness, so i was on the watch for that. it still took me a long time to get the theme, but i did navigate through the other clues fairly smoothly.Joonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07825085755390339668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-33886005088224854952010-06-24T22:51:26.939-04:002010-06-24T22:51:26.939-04:00John, I think the "turning" answers were...John, I think the "turning" answers were fairly hard to spot with the hyphens, and most blog commenters probably solved online. Otherwise, "freshness" always increases difficulty because less-common words don't jump to mind as easily (regardless of cluing). 99.3% Thursday percentile, yowza!Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11209543514266918480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-90131209639658995622010-06-24T21:57:07.557-04:002010-06-24T21:57:07.557-04:00this wasn't that hard, was it?

Will toughened it up in a few spots. But people had a rougher time than I would have expected. I figured the unnumbered squares (or hyphens) would have been dead giveaways for "turn here" ... but apparently not.John Fhttp://minaday.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5646728293270418440.post-23234512779103556552010-06-24T09:45:29.407-04:002010-06-24T09:45:29.407-04:00I didn't figure out the theme until near the e...I didn't figure out the theme until near the end!
